Share market update: Telecom stocks surge up to 8%; Bharti Airtel among top gainers

NEW DELHI: Most telecom stocks were ringing loud in Monday's trade, giving a boost to the sectoral index
The BSE Telecom was trading nearly 2 per cent up at 1,123 around 02:50 pm with GTPL Hathway (up 8.55 per cent) as the top gainer
Shares of Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 4.01 per cent), ITI (up 3.76 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (up 3.73 per cent), Sterlite
Technologies (up 3.38 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 2.88 per cent), GTL (up 2.64 per cent) and Tata Communications (up 2.29 per cent) too
were witnessing decent gains
Vindhya Telelinks (up 1.61 per cent), Idea Cellular (up 1.37 per cent), Reliance Communications (up 1.16 per cent), Himachal Futuristic
Communications (up 0.99 per cent) and Bharti Infratel (up 0.45 per cent) too were in the green
However, Aksh Optifibre (down 2.27 per cent), OnMobile Global (down 1.18 per cent) and Tejas Networks (down 0.99 per cent) were the losers
Gains in select FMCG, bank and auto stocks, including ITC, ICICI Bank, Hindustan Unilever and Maruti Suzuki, were keeping the equity
benchmarks up. The BSE Sensex was up 195 points at 36,692, while the NSE Nifty50 index was up 63 points at 11,073. Among the 50 stocks in
the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red
In the Sensex index, 19 stocks were advancing, while 12 were declining. Vedanta, ITC and Maruti Suzuki were leading among Sensex gainers.
