NEW DELHI: Over 70% of students joining the MBBS course in top medical colleges this year will be from nine states
The NEET-UG 2023 marks range data, exclusively accessed by TOI, showed that nearly 65% of candidates who scored 400 and above are from eight
medical college with a NEET score of 400 would be difficult, even in the high marks range of 620 and above, nearly 66% of candidates are
from these states.A total of 11.4 lakh candidates qualified in NEET-UG 2023, results of which were announced on May 13, and will be eligible
to participate in the counselling process
The total number of candidates who have scored 400 and above is 2.3 lakh, while the number of candidates with NEET scores between 500-619 is
over 45,000
(54,278 in government medical colleges) and 27,868 for BDS
Apart from this, there are 52,720 seats in Ayush programmes and 603 BVSc (Bachelor of veterinary science) and animal husbandry seats
Admissions for bachelor courses in homoeopathic and Unani medicines are also based on NEET-UG scores.Among those with scores of 400 and
above, Rajasthan has the highest share (12.3%), followed by Uttar Pradesh (11.8%) and Maharashtra (9.9%)
Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal account for 64.3% of the candidates in this mark range.There are a total
of 322 government medical colleges, with the highest number of seats in Tamil Nadu (more than 5,200), followed by Maharashtra (over 4,800
seats) and UP (over 4,300 seats)
The other states with more than 3,000 government college seats each are Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan and West Bengal.Seats are filled under
state quota.The total number of candidates with NEET score of 550 and above this year is 64,520 and the majority of such candidates are from
Delhi, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and UP
Rajasthan has the largest group of candidates (16.8%), followed by Uttar Pradesh (12.2%) and Maharashtra (8.4%)
While till the mark range of up to 619 Bihar is in the top eight, in the subsequent category of mark range of 620 and above, Delhi replaces
it with 7.2% of the total number of candidates within this marks range.
