Mum society homeowners object as household brings goats ahead of Eid

celebrated on Thursday.Kashimira police said they have detained a few people, including those who had turned violent during the protest that
took place on Tuesday night
Hordes of residents of the JP Infra Society gathered in their society complex after learning that one family had brought two goats at around
3am on Tuesday
Closed circuit television footage showed the family bringing two goats in the lift and taking them to their flat.As per preliminary reports,
around 200 families of the minority community live in the housing complex
They were given a dedicated area to sacrifice goats during the Bakri Eid festival
This year, however, the society in its meeting decided against allowing sacrifice in the dedicated area
The families from the minority community were informed accordingly.The family that brought the goats told the police that they did not
intend to sacrifice the animals in their home
They told the police that the animals would be taken to the licensed slaughterhouse for carrying out the sacrifice.Residents, however, came
down in large numbers to protest against the goats being kept inside the house
They demanded that the goats be moved out of the building
Residents said they have complained to the municipality and police regarding the goats
A huge team of cops reached the housing society and tried to pacify the protestors, that included women
Some of the protestors raised slogans and even man-handled the cops.Police said the society does not have any rule that bans a person from
keeping a domesticated animal
Heavy police bandobast has been deployed in and around the housing society.
