Male impersonates valet, takes 2 BMWs from Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A small-time freelance web designer living in Gachibowli was arrested on Friday for stealing two BMWs from the city
Each car is worth around Rs 1 crore

stole a BMW Z4 from singer Badshah's concert at Boulder Hills on June 24
He noticed a woman drive up for the show in the car and approached her claiming to be a valet
To make the victim believe that he was an authorised person, he entered her details in an app on his phone
The woman handed over the keys to him and he drove off with the car with no one stopping him

"We found out that the accused had parked the car at Hotel Sheraton after stealing and left it there for a week
On Friday morning, when he returned to the hotel to take the car, we nabbed him." Arun is a resident of the TNGO colony in Gachibowli
Police officials believe that he left the car at the hotel's parking lot in the hope that no one notices it along with the other high-end
cars there.During interrogation, officials found out that Arun had stolen a BMW X5 from a pub in the city last year
It was recovered from his home
"His modus operandi was to chat up unsuspecting car owners as a valet and drive off with the car once he got the keys," a police official
said.He was using the BMW X5 by replacing its number plate with one from Jharkhand
"He had told his family members that he purchased the used car in Jharkhand
The accused also used the BMW sparingly," a police official added.
