Land for task scam: CBI files chargesheet versus Lalu, Rabri, Tejashwi

INSUBCONTINENT EXCLUSIVE:
NEW DELHI: Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, his father and former railway minister Lalu Prasad, and his mother and former chief
minister Rabri Devi have been named in a chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the land for Jobs
scam case
Alongside the Yadav family members, 14 others, including AK Infosystems and several middlemen, have also been named in the chargesheet
This is the second chargesheet filed in the case, based on additional documents and evidence that emerged after the submission of the first
chargesheet
The chargesheet has been submitted in a special CBI court
The reason for filing a second chargesheet is that the alleged involvement of the accused individuals could not be fully established at the
time of filing the initial report. The CBI has alleged that favourite candidates were appointed in the railways in violation of norms and
procedures, without any advertisement or public notice
during Lalu Prasad's tenure as minister in the UPA government from 2004 to 2009, The agency claims that substitutes from Patna were
appointed in various zonal railways located in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hazipur
As a quid pro quo, the candidates, either directly or through their immediate family members, allegedly sold land to Lalu Prasad's family
members at highly-discounted rates.(With inputs from PTI)
