Over 10 lakh applicants for 4,600 talathi posts in Maharashtra

PUNE: Over 10 lakh job seekers, encompassing individuals with MBAs, engineering degrees, and PhDs, have submitted applications for 4,600
'talathi' positions in Maharashtra, a senior official from the land records department on Wednesday said.A 'talathi' serves as an official
within the revenue department, tasked with maintaining village accounts pertaining to land revenue demand and collection, recording rights
information, complying with government-mandated village forms, inspecting crops and boundary markers, and preparing agricultural
statistics.These talathis belong to the Class C employment category and receive monthly salaries within the range of Rs 25,500 to Rs
81,100.Anand Rayate, the coordinator of state examinations and additional director of land records, conveyed that an impressive count of
1.053 million applications has been amassed for the 4,600 talathi vacancies."The exam will take place at various centres in the districts
across the state between August 17 and September 14 in three shifts daily," he said
Though any graduate can apply for the job, Rayate said, applications have been received from candidates with qualifications like MBA, PhD,
BAMS, BHMS, and engineering
According to the government notification, the exam will be conducted in three 2-hour slots a day - 9am to 11Aam, 12.30 pm to 2.30pm, and
4.30pm to 6.30pm.(With inputs from PTI)
