Joint sitting of both Houses to bid farewell to old Parl building

NEW DELHI: Just ahead of the five-day special session, there is considerable speculation over whether a joint meeting of the two Houses will
be convened on September 19 in the iconic Central Hall to say goodbye to the existing Parliament building.Though the session will start from
September 18 in the existing Parliament building, the following sessions will be shifted to the new building the next day, on Ganesh
Chaturthi
Sources said though there is no official communication about the joint sitting, preparations are under way to facilitate one
The Central Hall has been the venue of joint sittings of Parliament.Though the new Parliament building does not have a Central Hall, joint
sittings can be held in the new Lok Sabha,which can accommodate up to 1,272 MPs
Officials said both Houses are fully ready and offices and committee rooms in the new buildings are operational.
