Newly appointed Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon says his first priority will be to safeguard national security
and to crack down on drug dealing and organized crimes.Tennakoon, who was serving as the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) in
charge of Western Province, was elevated to the post of Acting Police Chief earlier today (Nov.29), pursuant to the powers vested with
President Ranil Wickremesinghe.As such, he will be in office as the Acting IGP for a period of three months.
