[Afghanistan] - Entrepreneurs require more trade crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan

INSUBCONTINENT EXCLUSIVE:
Businessmen trading between Afghanistan and Pakistan have called on Islamabad&s Federal Board of Revenue and the ministry of commerce to
fully open Ghulam Khan and Kharlachi crossings to trade given the heavy burden on Torkham post.In a statement issued on Saturday,
Coordinator of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi and former senior vice president of the
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Manzoor Elahi, said the closure of Chaman border crossing and the limited operation at Ghulam Khan and
Kharlachi border posts has resulted in all trade having to go through Torkham border, Express Tribune reported.Excessive transportation of
goods from Torkham to Afghanistan and Central Asian Countries, resulted in prolonging travel duration of goods-laden trucks from ten days to
around one and a half months and excessive increase in charges,& they explained.Sarhadi highlighted that a truck carrying goods to
Afghanistan returns to Pakistan after around 45 days.He said truck owners now prefer to use local transportation within the country, instead
of sending their vehicles to Afghanistan, which creates a shortage of vehicles for them. The post Businessmen call for more trade crossings
