Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday held a phone call with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, and the two sides pledged to
safeguard the post-World War II (WWII) international order.China is willing to maintain high-level exchanges with Poland and expand
practical cooperation in various fields, said Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central
Committee.Noting that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the 80th anniversary of the
founding of the United Nations (UN), Wang said China is ready to work with Poland to uphold the UN's core position and safeguard
international law and the fundamental norms governing international relations.The return of Taiwan to China is also a victorious outcome of
WWII and an integral part of the post-war international order, he said, expressing hope that Poland will continue to adhere to the one-China
policy and oppose "Taiwan independence" in any form.As this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations
between China and the European Union (EU), China expects Poland to play a more constructive role to promote greater progress in China-EU
ties, said Wang.Sikorski said Poland will adhere to the one-China policy, and is committed to strengthening exchanges with China at all
levels, deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, safeguarding the post-WWII international order, and pushing the continuous development of
Poland-China and EU-China ties.The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis
Wang reiterated that China remains committed to promoting peace talks and has never given up its efforts for peace, adding that China has
initiated the "Friends of Peace" group with Global South countries.Noting that Russia and Ukraine recently resumed direct negotiations and
have achieved the first step towards peace despite their differences, Wang said China hopes that all parties will further demonstrate their
willingness to resolve the crisis through political means and ultimately reach a fair, lasting and binding peace deal through continued
dialogue.Sikorski said Poland hopes that China will continue to play an active role to promote enduring peace in Europe.(Cover via VCG)
