Considering that the incumbent government assumed power on 29 September 2024, cops raids have led to the seizure of significant amounts of
narcotics, according to Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP)
To date, the cops have seized the following quantities of narcotics: 1,253 kgs of heroin 2,121 kgs of ICE (crystal methamphetamine) 12,491
kgs of ganja 22 kgs of cocaine 1.6 million narcotic tablets 1 million narcotic tabletsMeanwhile, Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala
stated that almost 2 metric tons of heroin and Ice (crystal methamphetamine) have been seized over the previous five months alone.These
declarations were made during a press instruction held at the Department of Government Information in view of the upcoming International Day
versus Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which will be observed on June 26.
