President holds 2026 pre-budget discussions with FinMin authorities

A conversation on the initial budget framework and development instructions associated to the submission of proposals for the 2026 Budget
was held this afternoon (16) at the Presidential Secretariat between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and authorities of the Ministry of
Finance.Accordingly, the President asked from the Ministry of Finance officials about the current development in preparing the upcoming
budget
The officials informed the President that the circular inviting budget propositions has currently been provided and that institutions have
actually been provided until the July 31st to send their spending plan approximates within the designated expenditure limits, the Presidents
Media Division (PMD) said.During the discussion, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake emphasized the significance of focusing on key sectors
that can elevate the nation beyond its present scenario when preparing the upcoming budget.Accordingly, he instructed authorities to focus
more on projects cantered around locations such as digitalization, strengthening public transport and integrating rural communities into the
