[Sri Lanka] - Sectoral Oversight Committee to convene today on Electricity (Amendment) Bill

The Sectoral Oversight Committee on Infrastructure and Strategic Development is arranged to assemble once again today (July 17) to think
about the Sri Lanka Electricity (Amendment) Bill.The committee initially met in Parliament on July 15 under the chairmanship of S
M
Marikkar, Member of Parliament.Officials representing a number of institutions, including the Ministry of Energy, the Attorney Generals
Department, and the Ceylon Electricity Board, existed at the meeting.According to a declaration issued by the Department of Communications
of Parliament, a number of proposals and suggestions submitted by the Public Utilities Commission relating to the change of this Bill were
talked about and agreement was reached on a number of matters.The Attorney Generals Department likewise expressed its views on the draft
Bill before the committee and it was chosen to print the draft Bill in all 3 languages together with the concurred modifications and submit
it for approval by the committee today.Accordingly, the Parliamentary Secretariat verified that the committee will reconvene today to think
about the draft Bill.
