One report, four indices: New trends in global supply chain

INSUBCONTINENT EXCLUSIVE:
The Global Supply Chain Promotion Report 2025, along with the global supply chain index matrix, was released on Wednesday during the 3rd
China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT)
As the flagship publication of the event, the report reveals new trends in global supply chain cooperation."The report finds that
technological innovation is playing an increasingly prominent role in driving global supply chains," said Zhao Ping, spokesperson for the
CCPIT
"Digital technologies such as artificial intelligence are rapidly evolving and maturing, while green and low-carbon technologies like carbon
capture and storage are being promoted and applied at a faster pace
These trends are propelling global supply chains into a new stage of digitalization and green development."The report provides a systematic
overview of China's key practices and new opportunities in promoting global supply chain development
China has continuously improved infrastructure connectivity, remained committed to high-level opening up, actively advanced global supply
chain cooperation, fostered new quality productive forces suited to local conditions and enhanced financial services for global supply
chains
These efforts inject greater certainty into global supply chain cooperation amid an uncertain world.Over the past three years, the report
has mapped the global supply chains of 17 key products – including drones, AR glasses, humanoid robots, hydropower, soybeans and wine –
clearly illustrating the upstream, midstream and downstream distribution along each supply chain. The index matrix consists of four indices:
the promotion index, connectivity index, innovation index and resilience index
The innovation and resilience index were introduced for the first time at this year's CISCE.To more intuitively present the changing trends
in the global supply chain from 2018 to 2024, the index matrix uses 2018 as the base period, setting the base index value at 1
By 2024, the promotion index increased to 2.71, the connectivity index increased to 1.56, the innovation index increased to 2.16 and the
resilience index increased to 1.22.Zhao noted that all four indices have shown improvement, indicating a positive overall development trend
in global supply chains
However, supply chain resilience remains relatively fragile, requiring joint efforts from all parties to enhance the development
environment, connectivity and innovation capacity in order to truly strengthen global supply chain resilience.
