NEW DELHI: The BSE Telecom index was in the negative territory in afternoon trade on Wednesday on losses in select heavyweight counters.
The
telecom pack was trading 2 per cent down at 988 around 01:05 pm
GTL Infrastructure (down 4.72 per cent) was the top loser of the pack, followed by Bharti Infratel (down 4.32 per cent), Vodafone Idea
(down 3.09 per cent), Tata Communications (down 2.86 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (down 1.49 per cent).
Rest all components of the index were
trading with gains at that time
Shares of GTPL Hathway (up 7.96 per cent) and OnMobile Global (up 5.02 per cent) zoomed over 5 per cent.
Vindhya Telelinks (up 3.91 per
cent), Tejas Networks (up 2.63 per cent), Reliance Communications (up 1.93 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 1.86 per cent), Mahanagar
Telephone Nigam (up 1.52 per cent) and GTL (up 1.50 per cent) clocked decent gains.
Aksh Optifibre (up 1.46 per cent), Himachal Futuristic
Communications (up 0.50 per cent), ITI (up 0.25 per cent) and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 0.25 per cent) were up with tepid gains
Benchmark BSE Sensex was 258 points down at 36,268, while the NSE Nifty50 index was down 74 points at 10,934.
Among the 50 stocks in the
Nifty index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red
In the Sensex index, 17 stocks were in the red and 13 in the green
MM, TCS, Axis Bank and IndusInd Bank were among the top losers in the Sensex index.
