Share market update: Nifty PSU Bank index plunges nearly 5%; SBI top casualty

NEW DELHI: The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 4.58 per cent down at 2,690 around 10:20 am on Thursday with all components in the
red. State Bank of India (SBI) (down 5.08 per cent), Union Bank of India (down 4.95 per cent) and Central Bank of India (down 4.85 per cent)
were the top losers in the PSU bank index. Bank of India (down 4.73 per cent), Indian Bank (down 4.44 per cent), Canara Bank (down 4.43 per
cent) and Oriental Bank of Commerce (down 4.21 per cent) plunged up to 5 per cent. Punjab National Bank (down 3.32 per cent), Syndicate Bank
(down 3.31 per cent), Bank of Baroda (down 3.03 per cent), Vijaya Bank (down 2.93 per cent) and IDBI Bank (down 0.68 per cent) fell in that
order. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 269 points at 10,191, while the BSE Sensex was 868 points at 33,893
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 6 were trading in the green, while 44 were in the red
HPCL, Zee Entertainment, BPCL, Bharti Infratel and GAIL (India) were the gainers in the Nifty index
Indiabulls Housing Finance, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv, State Bank of India and Grasim Industries were the top losers in the Nifty pack.
