Kadapa: At least 10 individuals were killed and numerous hurt after gelatin sticks blew up at a white baryte mine near Tirumala Hill on the outskirts of Mamillapalle town in Kalasapadu Mandal on Saturday.The sticks were taken in a lorry from Badvel to the mine where they were to be used for carrying out blasts to extract ore from the mine.
A huge explosion happened as the sticks were being unloaded from the lorry.
The effect was such that the lorry was exploded and as much as 10 employees were feared killed in the accident.
The bodies were totally dismembered and scattered in pieces.
Just 5 bodies might be recognized.
On invoice of news, Porumamilla Authorities Inspector Mohan Reddy, Porumamilla and Kalasapadu SIs Maddileti and Mohan hurried to the spot and took up relief operations.
The hurt were shifted to a health center in Porumamilla.
The deceased were identified as Prasad (40) from Gangayapalli in Kalasapadu mandal, Korivi Prasad from Porumamilla, Abdul from Vemula, Laxmi Reddy (60) from Kottapalle town, Eswaraiah (45) from Bucheyyagaripalle, Gangi Reddy from Rangoripalle, Venkata Ramana (25 ), Balagangulu (35) from E.
Kottapalle, Subbareddy (45) from Gondipalle in Vemula mandal and Venkatesh (25) from Bakkannagaripalle in Vempalli mandal.
People in the surrounding feared an earthquake had triggered a huge explosion.
District SP Karur Karunapati Nagendra Kumar Anburajan reached the website and supervise the relief operations.
Authorities signed up a case and took up an examination.
They are verifying if the mine owner had needed permits for ore extraction.
The wreckage of the car, which was entirely damaged in the blast, was likewise examined.Chief Minister Y.S.
Jagan Mohan Reddy revealed shock over the death of labourers in the blast and bought all treatment to the hurt.
He made enquiries about the possible factors behind the mishap.
He communicated his acknowledgements to the bereaved households.
