LUCKNOW: Despite the prevailing world crisis, India would continue to grow because of the ever-rising confidence and aspirations of its youth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday, in an apparent allusion to the prolonged Russia-Ukraine war and International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicting an economic downturn in 2023-24.Addressing the inaugural session of the three-day Global Investors Summit (GIS) in Lucknow, PM Modi said, India has and will continue to emerge as the fastest growing economy despite the pandemic and shock of war because of the ever-rising confidence and aspirations of its youth.
Today, India is treading a path of speed and scale, he said, maintaining that his government has managed to fulfil the requirement of a large social class, which has started thinking ahead and one level up.
This is the biggest reason that India is gaining the confidence of the world, he said.If India was attaining the status of a bright spot for the entire world then UP is providing the much-needed energy and diving its growth, said PM Modi, hailing the Yogi Adityanath government of turning peoples perception about the state which was once categorized as BIMARU.Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the state government had signed 18,643 MoUs worth Rs 32.92 lakh crore under the ongoing GIS.
Addressing the opening ceremony of GIS-2023 on Friday, the CM said that whatever the state had managed to achieve during the past six years was on the basis of Prime Minister Narendra Modis mantra of reform, perform and transform, the result of which was that historically neglected areas of Purvanchal and Bundelkhand, too, had managed to draw investments of Rs 9 lakh crore and Rs 4.28 lakh crore respectively. The investments, the CM said, have come into sectors like renewable energy, real estate, education, tourism, electronic vehicle manufacturing, housing, food processing etc, which when implemented will create 92.5 lakh job opportunities in the state.Of this, the western UP got the lions share of 8,389 MoUs worth over Rs 14.81 lakh crore, which is 45% of all investments.
The eastern part of the state comes second with 5,406 MoUs worth over Rs 9.54 lakh crore (29%) while central UP bagged 4,424 MoUs worth over Rs 4.27 lakh crore (13%) and the Bundelkhand region got 424 MoUs worth Rs 4.27 lakh crore (13%).Union home and cooperative minister Amit Shah turned to physics suggesting that UP had attained the momentum because it had both mass and velocity (mass multiplied by velocity is momentum). The momentum gained by UP was very shubh (auspicious) for the growth of the country, he said, while speaking during a session during the GIS.He said that the government has managed to fulfil its resolve to strengthen the cooperative sector through a slew of measures.
Shah said that the Centre will help the UP in strengthening the cooperative sector.Defence minister Rajnath Singh, who is also Lucknow MP, castigated the previous governments of the opposition parties for creating roadblocks before the trade and industry in the name of "pseudo-secularism".Even the existing industries were pushed into crisis-like situations.
Then came a time when despite having all the resources people hesitated from coming in the field of trade and business, he said.Maintaining that the Modi government ended red-tapism while rolling out a red carpet to the investors, Rajnath said that the path shown by former PM and BJP stalwart leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee is being followed ardently by the Modi government.
He hailed Modi not just as a PM but also as a leader who was a great source of inspiration.
