NEW DELHI: Taking on Congress member Rahul Gandhi for his comments in the US that PM Narendra Modi was driving India while looking in the rear view mirror and failing to see the car crashing, Vice-PresidentJagdeep Dhankhar said the need to look back arose in order to identify those who are out to taint, tarnish and destroy our institutions. This is not the first time Dhankhar has called out Rahuls comments within and outside India.
Earlier, he had rubbished the Congress leaders democracy in danger comment made during a visit to the UK.Offering his critique of the Congress scions comment while interacting with a batch of trainee Indian Defence Estates Services officers who called on him on Tuesday, Dhankhar said one needed to look in the rear view mirror to notice those who are not well disposed towards the nation. We are a forward-looking nation.
To say we believe in having a look in the rear view mirror is a lopsided, short-sighted approach to look at ground reality.
To say Indias rise is not taking place is like being an ostrich, not seeing reality, he said.Dhankhars latest remarks followed Rahuls address to the Indian diaspora in the US, where he alleged that Modi was leading India while looking in the rear view mirror without realising that this will lead to one accident after another, and that BJP and RSS were incapable of looking at Indias future. That is the phenomena of Modi ji.
He looks only in the rear view mirror and then doesnt understand why the car is crashing, Rahul had said at a public meeting in New York.
