NOIDA: A 40-year-old man was arrested from Chandigarh village in Rabupura after a gunfight with police on Saturday for allegedly killing a youth over an argument two months ago when the 19-year-old had allegedly spat on his food.
Later, cops arrested his accomplice on Sunday morning.
On Friday, police found the youth's body, with his hands and legs tied with rope, in his truck on the Noida Expressway in Rabupura.
Sudhir Kumar, SHO of Rabupura police station, said police soon identified him as Imraan Ansari, a resident of Gaya, Bihar; filed an FIR under IPC Section 302 (murder); and formed two teams to look for the accused.Investigation revealed the accused as Amit Kumar (40) from Haryanas Sonipat and his associate as Phool Singh.
Police said Kumar had fought with Ansari at a dhaba in Jharkhand two months ago when Ansari had allegedly spit gutka on his food.
At the time, Kumar had allegedly decided to take revenge. On Friday, he and Singh stopped their truck 23 km ahead of the Jewar toll plaza and waited for Ansari.
When they saw his truck, Singh stopped him on the pretext of seeking help to change a punctured tyre.
When Ansari opened the trucks door, the duo allegedly tied him up, slit his throat with a knife, and fled.On Saturday, when police caught up with Kumar and tried to recover his knife, he attempted to run away by snatching the pistol of a sub-inspector, Dharamveer Singh, and firing at the police party.
During cross-firing, he was shot at in his right leg.
The cops admitted him to a hospital, where doctors declared him stable.
Later, Singh was caught too.Police said earlier in 2013, Kumar killed a person named Parvesh in Bahadurgarh, and a court sentenced him to life imprisonment in the case, but he came out on bail three years ago.
