NEW DELHI: The incessant rainfall disrupted normal life in the hill states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on Monday.
The heavy downpour in Himachal Pradesh over the last 24 hours triggered landslides, flash floods, and resulted in the closure of 752 roads across the state.Similarly, torrential rains in Uttarakhand caused major rivers and their tributaries to flood, leading to landslides along the national highways to the Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Gangotri shrines, according to officials.Several people are feared to be buried in landslides triggered by heavy rains in the state.Temple collapses in Shimla, 9 deadAt least nine people lost their lives as temple collapses in Summer Hill area of Shimla on Monday.
Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said nine bodies have been pulled out of the debris from a Shiv temple in the Summer Hill area that collapsed and the other site in the Fagli area where several houses were buried under mud and slush.
