SRINAGAR: A gunfight erupted between terrorists and security forces late Sunday at Parigam village in Newa hamlet of south Kashmirs Pulwama district, where two-three terrorists were believed trapped, officials said.Based on intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area, a joint team of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation there, said an official.
As the security forces neared a suspected hideout, holed-up terrorists opened fire, triggering an encounter.The firefight was underway till the time of going to press, said sources.
