GORAKHPUR: She was head over heels in love with him.
He was iffy.
And between them stood a tower of problems - until she decided to scale one as a last resort.Residents of Maharajganj's Semra Raja village were in for a shock on Thursday when a 20-year-old local woman scaled a mobile towerfor the love of her life - a truck driver, 24, from the same village. The two have been seeing each other for a couple of years, said local sources.Having climbed the 50-metre-tall tower, she alleged that her boyfriend and his family were not keen on their marriage.
She also claimed that the youth had gone missing. The youth's family claimed that he had left the village on his truck a couple of days ago to deliver a consignment in Nepal.Onlookers, meanwhile, had a field day.
Mobile cameras were on.
Local WhatsApp groups were flooded with pictures and videos.
Since the tower happened to be close to a toll plaza, the traffic on the highway was also disrupted briefly.Police had a tough time bringing down the irate woman.
When all attempts at cajoling failed, cops scaled the tower and brought her down safely.
"The woman climbed the mobile tower near Semra Raja toll plaza area in Maharajganj district on Thursday.
She was having a love affair with a local youth and wanted to convince her family to marry her to the man.
Police got her down and the necessary legal action will be taken," circle officer Ajay Singh Chauhan said. While the woman came down, her anger was still pushing through the roof.
She could only be pacified after an FIR was lodged against the man for "voluntarily causing hurt," the CO added.
