NASHIK: Two goons heckling and terrorising motorists on Mhasrul Link Road, killed a retired Indian Air Force sergeant who confronted them, right in front of his wife and son, on Monday.
The police have arrested the two goons, identified as 19-year-old Atharva Ugle and 24-year-old Rushikesh Donde, both residents of Mhasrul.Ravi Dutt Chaubey, the 42-year-old retired IAF sergeant, had stepped out of his car to catch the two goonswhen he was attacked with sharp weapons.Raju Pachorkar, the senior inspector of the Mhasrul police station, said: The two men were terrorizing citizens and motorists on Mhasrul link road.
They had even shattered the glass of a car.
Chaubey, who was passing the area along with his wife and young son, stopped his car and approached Ugle and Donde.
Some other people charged at the goons, and the duo tried to flee.Chaubey tried to catch them.
But one of the goons attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon.
The police reached the spot around the same time, and nabbed the goons.Chaubey was put in a police vehicle and taken to a private hospital.
Subsequently, Chaubey was referred to the Nashik Civil Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
A case of murder has been registered against Ugle and Donde.
Pachorkar said Chaubey had retired from IAF in 2021 and, after had taken up a job as the warden of a private colleges hostel in Nashik city.
His last posting was at the Air Force Station in Borgad, Nashik.
Chaubey hails from Bansdih in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh.
His relatives said one of his daughters is in B.Tech first year, and another in Class X, and his son is in senior KG.Pachorkar said so far, they have found only two accused in the case.

This is the second similar incident reported in recent years.
