KATHMANDU: Rapper Samir Ghising, popularly known as VTEN, has been taken under police custody.

He was arrested by a team of Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) from Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, today.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sahakul Thapa of MPCD, Teku, Ghising was rounded up for the use of obscene lyrics in his popular composition &Hami Yestai ta ho ni Bro&. SSP Thapa further said that the language in the song was so profane that it could not be listened to among family members.
Additionally, the rapper has been accused of posting a photo dressed as a police officer, smoking and using marijuana.
SSP Thapa added that the rapper was arrested on the grounds of spreading a negative social message and portraying a police officer in a derogatory manner.
Action will be taken against the rapper on these charges, stated Thapa.
In a similar case, on October 22, police had arrested singer Durgesh Thapa, charging him with spreading ‘negative message& in society through his recently released Tihar song called ‘Happy Tihara Chiso Beer.&

Write comment (96 Comments)KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has left for Baku, the Republic of Azerbaijan, leading the Nepali delegation to the 18th Summit of heads of state and government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
The Nepali delegation includes Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Rimal, Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister Rajan Bhattarai, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, and senior officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
The Summit will be held on October 25 and 26 and the PM will address the general debate of the Summit on October 26, as per the press statement released by MOFA on October 20.
This year, the general debate of the Summit will be held on the theme &Upholding the Bandung Principles to ensure concerted and adequate response to the challenges of the contemporary world&.
It has been reported that PM Oli will attend the official dinner to be hosted by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in honour of the heads of delegation on October 25, 2019.
Prime Minister Oli will also hold bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations of different countries on the sidelines of the Summit.
Nepal is a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement and has been actively participating in all NAM Summits since its inception. The principles of non-alignment constitute one of the basic tenets of Nepalforeign policy.
As per the statement, PM Oli is scheduled to return from Baku on the evening of October 26 and will arrive at the capital in the morning of October 27.

Um Hong Gil Human Foundation, a non-political and non-religious humanitarian organisation supported by South Korea and registered at Social Welfare Council, celebrated its 10th anniversary today.
The organisation was founded by Um Hong Gil, the first person who successfully climbed 16 mountains of over 8,000 metres high, in South Asia. According to UHGHF, it has constructed and handed over 15 child-friendly, earthquake-resistant and well-equipped schools till now, starting from Pangboche Elementary School in Solukhumbu, in 2010.
More than 6,900 children have been befitting from the schools from mountain to Tarai regions. In order to create more suitable learning environment for the students of remote areas, the organisation has constructed two well-equipped hostel buildings for two schools of Sankhuwasabha and Solukhumbu districts.
For the first time in Nepal, UHGHF has operated smart class in Birethahi Secondary School of Kaski and international tele-teaching technology in Sarvodaya Secondary School of Myagdi. &In addition, 13 teachers were recruited in five different schools which could not afford skilled teachers,& read the press release issued by UHGHF. It has also fixed criteria for constructing schools with spacious classrooms, quality desks and benches, and greenery and safety measures.
&As many as 300 parents, who could not afford to send their children to schools, were provided with goats so thatthey could provide stationery materials to their children from the income generated through goat rearing,& it stated. After the devastating earthquakes of 2015, UH- GHF had donated amount worth Rs 15.3 million to schools in Dhading, Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk. UH- GHF was awarded on the 38th Social Welfare Day by the Social Welfare Council under the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen for its outstanding services in education sector of Nepal.

Kathmandu, October 23.
A rape and murder convict, who was arrested in America, was deported to Nepal by Interpol Washington, for implementation of the Supreme Court verdict, according to Nepal Police.
Police took Lilaraj Gautam, 42, into custody upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport on a Turkish Airlines flight today. Gautam of Changragadi-3, Jhapa, was arrested by Interpol Washington on 3 February 2018 and was held in the custody of US police since then. A red corner notice was issued by the Interpol General Secretariat on 28 November 2017 for his arrest at the request of National Central Bureau, Interpol office inNepal, after the Central Investigation Bureau found him hiding in America. Deputy Inspector General Bishwaraj Pokharel, Nepal Police spokesperson, said three persons, including Gautam, Manoj Khadka and Sitaram Basnet, had gang raped 14-year-old Sandhya Gautam of Chandragadi, Jhapa, and strangulated the victim to death before hanging her from a tree in a forest, near her house, on 15 October 2000.
After she was found hanging from a tree, Raj Kumar Rajbanshi, the victimfather, filed first information report against the trio at Jhapa District Police Office on 16 October 2000. Jhapa District Court acquitted Gautam, Khaka and Basent of the charges on 6 November 2001.
The Government of Nepal filed an appeal at Ilam Appellate Court, which upheld the district court decision.
The government moved the SC seeking review on the appellate courtdecision to uphold the verdict of the district court. Subsequently, the apex court slapped life imprisonment on Gautam and Khadka and Basnet, along with confiscation of their property on 14 September 2009.
Khadka and Basent were arrested and sent to jail. Nepal Police said Gautam would be required to serve a jail sentence of 19 years and two months after subtracting 10 months he spent in judicial custody from 17 October 2000 to 16 August 2001. Gautam has been sent to Dillibazaar Prison for implementation of the SC verdict.
