KATHMANDU: The runway operation resumption at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has been postponed to 7:00 pm as efforts continue to remove the aircraft of Yeti Airlines — which slid off the runway while landing today morning — from the runway area of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).According to General Manager of TIA, Rajkumar Chhetry, the NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) for closed runway and halt of flight operations has been extended until 7:00 pm today.Earlier, the notice had stated that runway operation would begin from 12:15 pm, which was later extended to 2:00 pm, then 3:00 pm and again to 5:00 pm, according to terminal duty office at TIA.The airplane NYT-422 (9N-AMM) coming from Nepalgunj slipped off the runway just as it landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 11:05 am today.
There were 66 passengers on board including 64 adults and two infants along with three members of the crew.(UPDATED)

Airport operation halted as efforts continue to remove aircraft from runwayKATHMANDU: Efforts are still underway to remove the aircraft of Yeti Airlines — which slid off the runway while landing today morning — from the runway area of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
As a result, regular flight operations have been disrupted causing confusion among the passengers stranded at the airport.A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) had been issued for closed runway this morning stating that its operation would begin from 12:15 pm, which was later extended to 2:00 pm, then 3:00 pm and most recently to 5:00 pm, according to terminal duty office at TIA.Speaking to THT Online, Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Rajan Pokhrel, stated that efforts are going on to remove the aircraft from the area and clear the runway for regular flight operations.
He added that many technical precautions need to be taken to remove the aircraft and that all available resources were being used to get the task done.Pokhrel further said that as the task is of critical nature, it would take some time for the runway to be cleared to resume regular airport operations.
