LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday ordered a sessions court to wrap up the defamation law suit between Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi within a span of three months.
Justice Masood Jahangir of the LHC gave a three-month extension to the model as he took up a petition by her, setting aside the order by the lower court on the plea filed by Zafar of concluding the case by April 15.
He observed that Shafi and her counsel was at liberty to be handed an additional extension as she argued in her petition that that the order by the sessions court of concluding in two weeks opposed the ground realities.She further argued that an extension was required by her to produce before the court, witnesses to back her allegations against Zafar of sexually harassing her several times.
Final week, Zafar had filed a plea to an additional district and sessions court asking for the defamation suit to be settled within a month.
He had filed the Rs1 billion defamation suit against Shafi after she alleged him of misconduct on Twitter in April of 2018.TheIndianSubcontinent has not verified the content of the source.
