Seven Sri Lankan athletes for Asian Indoor Championships

Seven athletes from Sri Lanka who won gold medals during the recently concluded South Asian Games are expected to take part at the 9th Asian Indoor Athletic Championships in Hangzhou, China on 12 and13 th February. At the Kathmandu South Asian Games Sri Lanka clinched 15 gold medals which was better than the Indian performances in the SAG.

India v Sri Lanka first T20 abandoned

India won the toss and chose to bowl first, but thatas far as the weather allowed the first T20I to progress in Guwahati. Rain had fallen through much of the afternoon, and arrived again soon after the toss to delay the start. Although the showers lasted less than an hour, they caused too much damage to the ground - only the square and the bowlers& run-ups were protected by covers.

Islandwide dengue program from tomorrow

The Health Sector states that a special dengue prevention program is due to be held islandwide from the 07th of January.Director of the National Dengue Eradication Unit, Specialist Dr. Aruna Jayasekata says that the program will be in effect from the 10th of this month. The effort will be joined by both the tri-forces and the police.

24-hour water cut in and around Negombo

A temporary suspension to the water supply will occur in Negombo and several surrounding areas tomorrow (January 06), stated National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB).Accordingly, a 24-hour water cut will be in effect from 9 am tomorrow until 9 am on January 07. The Water Board stated that the water cut is imposed due to the installation of a generator by the Katana Project to provide a continuous water supply through the Bambukuliya Water Refinery Center in Negombo.
