1485 complaints lodged on Presidential Election

The number of complaints received regarding the Presidential Election 2019 is 1485, according to the Elections Commission.Reportedly, the majority of the complaints are of election law violations.This includes 1414 election law violations, 10 violent acts and other 61 complaints, said the Chairman of the Election Commission.The National Center has received 526 complaints while the District Centers have received 957 complaints, stated the Commission.The Commission states that 126 complaints including 115 election law violations and 11other complaints,were received within yesterday (23).

PM: Prove that anyone in our camp dealt with mastermind

If it is proven that anyone from our camp had been with the mastermind behind the Easter Sunday bomb attacks, Zahran, we will take action against him, said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Addressing an election rally in Kiribathgoda, the Prime Minister said the Parliamentary Select Committee looking into the Easter bomb attacks had recommended a probe to determine whether any politician had associated with Zahran and if the UNF was condoning it.

Lanka unveils first bamboo Energy Forum tomorrow

In a first effort of its nature, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Colombo is collaboratively unveiling a Forum on Bamboo for Energy and Industrial Sustainability on 25 October.The forum, organised by UNIDO in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers of Sri Lanka (IESL), takes place on Friday October 25 at the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL), Colombo. The speakers and the audience are among professionals and investors from different sectors along with experts from biomass energy and bamboo plantations. The Forum is organised under the "Bamboo Processing Sri Lanka" project, launched by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and funded by Global Environment Facility (GEF). The objective of the project is to develop a bamboo supply chain and product industry in Sri Lanka.

Rain enhance in the South today

Showery condition is likely to enhance to some extent particularly in Western, North-western, Northern provinces and in Kegalle, Galle and Matara districts today. Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, North-western, Northern, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces and heavy falls above 100 mm can be expected at some places.
