Govt. policies helped increase per capita income -PM

Sri Lankaper capital income had increased by between 50% and 100% due to the right economic policies of the government, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said, at meetig in Mawathagama. Wickremesinghe pointed out that the government employees had received salary hikes exceeding 100%.

Govt. grants promised concessions for airlines

Elections Commission on applications for Postal Vote

The Election Commission issuing a notice yesterday (19) requested the applicants who require postal voting facility for the Presidential Election 2020 to keep the relevant information required to fill the postal vote application in possession. The relevant information include applicantadministrative district, the name and the letter denoting the polling area, number of the polling division, Grama Niladhari division, name of the village/street, full name of the applicant, serial number assigned to the applicantname and NIC number, as recorded in the voters registry 2018.

Construction of ‘reservoir of reconciliation& begins on August 25

Construction of the lower Malwathu Oya reservoir is scheduled to be launched on August 25 with President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as chief guests. This is the sixth-largest reservoir in the country with a water capacity of 170,000 acre feet. It will be the largest reservoir in the Anuradhapura district. The construction of this giant tank will be a relief to the people of Anuradhapura who are affected by floods and drought frequently, and also to the farming community in the adjoining Mannar and Vavuniya districts.
