Colombo Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project will be ready for commissioning by end of 2024 and for commercial operation by early 2025.The total cost of the project is US D 2.2 billion, of which USD 1.8 billion will be provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The government of Sri Lanka requested JICA to introduce the LRT model due to its versatility to run in all possible types of alignment.
