NEW DELHI: Gains in shares of most auto and auto ancillary stocks were keeping BSE Auto pack in green in Friday's session.
The BSE Auto index was trading 0.72 per cent up at 19,953 around 01:40 pm.
Tata Motors (up 2.59 per cent) was leading pack of gainers.
The stock jumped on back of healthy JLR US sales numbers.
The total JLR sales in US for December 2018 jumped nearly 24 per cent to 14,079 units against 11,394 units in December 2017.
Apollo Tyres (up 1.36 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 1.10 per cent), TVS Motor Company (up 1.01 per cent) and Mahindra Mahindra (up 0.98 per cent) climbed up to 1 per cent.Maruti Suzuki India (up 0.85 per cent), Exide Industries (up 0.60 per cent), MRF (up 0.50 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 0.48 per cent), Cummins India (up 0.31 per cent) and Bosch (up 0.25 per cent) also traded with gains.Shares of Eicher Motors (up 0.09 per cent) and Motherson Sumi Systems (up 0.03 per cent) were almost flat at that time.
However, shares of Ashok Leyland (down 1.07 per cent), Balkrishna Industries (down 1.04 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (down 0.24 per cent) were in red.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was up 198 points at 35,712, while NSE Nifty50 index was up 55 points at 10,728.Among 50 stocks in Nifty index, 40 were trading in green, while 10 were in red.
In Sensex index, 24 stocks were up and seven were down.
Bharti Airtel, SBI, Axis Bank, ONGC and YES Bank were among top gainers in Sensex kitty.
