NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading on a mixed note in Wednesday's morning session.Shares of Axis Bank (up 1.59 per cent), State Bank of India (up 1.30 per cent), YES Bank (up 1.22 per cent) and Punjab National Bank (up 0.28 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.
Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 0.92 per cent), IndusInd Bank (down 0.46 per cent), IDFC First Bank (down 0.44 per cent) and HDFC Bank (down 0.32 per cent) were trading in the red.
The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.09 per cent up at 26,976.5 around 11:48 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 17.55 points at 10,852.85 while the BSE Sensex was up 101.76 points at 36075.47.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, SBI, SAIL, Sun Pharma, BEL, Zee Entertainment, Axis Bank, Indian Oil Corp and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
