NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading higher in Friday's afternoon session.
Shares of IDFC First Bank (up 5.03 per cent), Bank of Baroda (up 4.36 per cent), Punjab National Bank (up 4.15 per cent) and IndusInd Bank (up 2.19 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.YES Bank (up 1.86 per cent), State Bank of India (up 1.43 per cent), RBL Bank (up 1.22 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 1.20 per cent) too were trading in the green.
The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.93 per cent up at 27,039.35 around 12:15 pm.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 49.35 points at 10,841.85 while the BSE Sensex was up 149.4 points at 36,016.84.Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 were trading in the green, while 12 were in the red.
Shares of SAIL, Ashok Leyland, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Bharti Airtel, Bank of Baroda, Motherson Sumi, SBI Life Insurance Company, ICICI Bank, Vedanta, SBI and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
