NEW DELHI: Shares of PSU banks were trading in the positive zone in Tuesday's morning session.Shares of Punjab National Bank (up 2.61 per cent) , Central Bank of India (up 2.58 per cent) , Union Bank of India (up 2.14 per cent) and Syndicate Bank (up 1.82 per cent) were the top performers in the index.Canara Bank (up 1.75 per cent) , Indian Bank (up 1.72 per cent) , Bank of India (up 1.60 per cent) and Oriental Bank of Commerce (up 1.52 per cent) too were trading higher.
The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 0.76 per cent up at 2853.40 around 10:09 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 12.50 points at 10,851 while the BSE Sensex was down 49.92 points at 36,013.89.Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.
Shares of SAIL, YES Bank, Tata Motors, Bank of Baroda, Ashok Leyland, BEL, JSW Steel, LT Fin Holding, Indian Oil Corp and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
