NEW DELHI: Shares of PSU banks were trading with losses in Tuesday's morning session.Shares of Bank of Baroda (down 5.84 per cent) , Bank of India (down 4.33 per cent) , Union Bank of India (down 4.26 per cent) and Jammu Kashmir Bank (down 4.05 per cent) were the worst performers in the index.Punjab National Bank (down 3.91 per cent) , Oriental Bank of Commerce (down 3.79 per cent) , Syndicate Bank (down 3.59 per cent) and Canara Bank (down 3.38 per cent) too were trading with losses.
The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 3.59 per cent down at 3048.55 around 09:59 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 91.50 points at 11,663.15 while the BSE Sensex was down 290.96 points at 38,776.37.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Bank of Baroda, Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, SBI, LT Fin Holding, SAIL, ICICI Bank, Ashok Leyland, Bharti Infratel, Indian Oil Corp and Indiabulls Housing Finance were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
