NEW DELHI: Some stocks failed to perform in Thursday's session even as the broader market sentiment was buoyant as the early vote count showed Narendra Modi-led NDA taking decisive majority.
Frontline indices Sensex and Nifty opened at record highs, with Nifty topping 11,900 for the first time while the 30-share Sensex jumped 791 points to 39,902 with 25 components in the green.Around 9:45 am, the BSE Sensex was 557 points up at 39,667, while the Nifty was 149 points up at 11,887.
On the NSE , shares of Shekhawati Poly (down 20 per cent), SRS (down 20 per cent) and Sintex Industries (down 14.19 per cent) plunged up to 20 per cent.On the other hand, Proseed India (down 11.11 per cent), Gammon Infra (down 10 per cent), Merck (down 8.94 per cent), ITD Cementation (down 7.70 per cent), Century Extrus (down 7.41 per cent) and Metkore Alloys (down 6.67 per cent) declined over 6 per cent.In the Nifty index 44 points were up while 6 stocks were down.
IndusInd Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance, ZEE Entertainment and State Bank of India were leading among Nifty gainers.
On the other hand, Vedanta, ONGC, Hindalco, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma and Tata Motors were the losers in the Nifty index.
