NEW DELHI: The Nifty Financial Services index was down with most of its components trading lower in Thursday's afternoon session.Shares of Indiabulls Housing Finance (down 7.81 per cent), Shriram Transport Finance Company (down 7.18 per cent), Edelweiss Financial Services (down 7.13 per cent) and Indiabulls Ventures (down 4.06 per cent) were the top losers in the index.ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company (down 4.01 per cent), State Bank of India (down 3.52 per cent), Cholamandalam Investment Finance Company (down 3.31 per cent) and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company (down 3.12 per cent) too were trading lower.
The Nifty Financial Services index was trading 1.72 per cent down at 13,376.25 around 02:11 pm.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 156.85 points at 11,864.80 while the BSE Sensex was down 486.51 points at 39,597.03.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 were trading in the green, while 40 were in the red.
