NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading with gains in Tuesday's afternoon session.Shares of Vindhya Telelinks (up 5.69 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 2.83 per cent), Tejas Networks (up 1.57 per cent) and GTL (up 1.52 per cent) were trading with gains.Tata Communications (up 0.84 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 0.64 per cent), OnMobile Global (up 0.33 per cent) and Himachal Futuristic Communications (up 0.24 per cent) too were trading in the green.
The S-P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.14 per cent up at 989.51 around 11:40 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 38.80 points at 11,627.15 while the BSE Sensex was up 124.80 points at 39,021.51.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 were trading in the green, while 12 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, ICICI Bank, Spicejet, Dish TV India, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Vodafone Idea, Adani Power, Federal Bank and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
