Infosys on Thursday informed bourses that Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has initiated an investigation into the anonymous whistleblower complaints.The company will cooperate with the SECs investigation, Infosys said in a BSE filing.Shares of the company were trading 1.24 per cent down at Rs 642.70 in Thursday's morning trade, while the benchmark BSE Sensex was up 0.32 per cent at 39,182.
Earlier on Tuesday, the scrip tanked over 10 per cent on concerns over a whistleblower complaint against the company's top executives.A complaint by a group that calls itself ethical employees of Infosys has alleged CEO Salil Parekh and CFO Nilanjan Roy were indulging in unethical practices to boost short-term revenue and profits.In a regulatory filing on Thursday, Infosys also added that market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has requested additional information from the company concerning the anonymous complaints.The company will provide the information as per Sebis request, Infosys said.It also added that the company is aware of a securities class action lawsuit that has been filed against the company in federal court in the United States based on the generalised allegations in the anonymous complaints.The company intends to defend itself vigorously in such a lawsuit, the IT major said.Sebi has begun its probe into alleged non-disclosure of price-sensitive information by Infosys management and also corporate governance lapses in the wake of serious allegations levelled by a whistleblower, while it is also examining possible insider trading in the company's securities, PTI reported on Wednesday.
