NEW DELHI: Domestic equity market opened with gains on Tuesday, tracking firm cues from global peers, amid positive developemt on the US-China trade front.
US President Donald Trump said on Monday he expected to sign a significant part of the trade deal with China ahead of schedule but did not elaborate on the timing.At around 9.40 am, BSE flagship Sensex was up 100 points to 39,350 while its NSE counterpart Nifty was trading with gains of 18 points at 11,645.Sectoral indices traded mixed with banks, FMCG and pharma trading with losses.
Nifty FMCG was the biggest loser among them, down 0.63 per cent at 31,601.
Meanwhile auto, metal and IT stocks were trading in the green.
Nifty Auto was up 1.33 per cent at 8,209 thanks to gains in Tata Motors that jumped 10 per cent to Rs 162.
The stock had climbed 18 per cent on Sunday when markets opened for Muhurat trading.
All constituents of Nifty Auto were trading with gains.Bharti Airtel was down 3.5 per cent at Rs 360 after the company deferred its quarterly results till November 14 as it seeks clarification on AGR issue.
The telecom giant was scheduled to report its number today.Reliance Industries was up 1 per cent at Rs 1,449 after the company said it will create a new subsidiary for its digital businesses.
Infosys, which is embroiled in controversy of ehical practices, was up 0.5 per cent at Rs 652 on NSE.Asian shares rose to a three-month peak earlier on Tuesday after Wall Street hit all-time highs amid hopes of progress in Sino-US trade talks and for another dose of policy stimulus from the Federal Reserve this week.Japan's Nikkei led the way with a rise of 0.5 per cent to reach ground last trod a full year ago, while Shanghai blue chips dithered either side of flat.
MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan crept up 0.2 per cent to its highest since late July.
