NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading in the negative zone in Thursday's morning session.
Shares of Welspun Corp (down 2.73 per cent) , Hindustan Copper (down 2.03 per cent) , Steel Authority of India (down 1.99 per cent) , Tata Steel (down 1.48 per cent) , APL Apollo Tubes (down 1.23 per cent) , National Aluminium Company (down 1.12 per cent) , Vedanta (down 1.09 per cent) , Jindal Steel - Power (down 1.09 per cent) , Hindalco Industries (down 0.99 per cent) , NMDC Ltd (down 0.61 per cent) , Ratnamani Metals - Tubes (down 0.43 per cent) , JSW Steel (down 0.4 per cent) and Coal India (down 0.05 per cent) were the top losers in the index.
The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.82 per cent down at 2644 around 10:20 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 64 points at 12,065.50, while the BSE Sensex was down 206.86 points at 40,991.80.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 were trading in the green, while 39 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, SAIL, Bharti Airtel, United Spirits, SBI, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda and Indian Oil Corp were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
