NEW DELHI: The Nifty Energy index was trading higher in Tuesday's afternoon session.Shares of Indian Oil Corporation (up 4.81 per cent) , Bharat Petroleum Corporation (up 3.85 per cent) , HPCL (up 3.69 per cent) , GAIL (India) (up 3.32 per cent) , Oil - Natural Gas Corporation (up 2.56 per cent) , Power Grid Corporation of India (up 2.51 per cent) , Reliance Industries (up 2.18 per cent) , Tata Power Company (up 2.09 per cent) and NTPC (up 0.91 per cent) were among the top gainers.
The Nifty Energy index was trading 2.54 per cent up at 14867.55 around 02:30 pm.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 256.10 points at 11964.0 , while the BSE Sensex was up 857.82 points at 40,730.13.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 46 were trading in the green, while 4 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, SBI, Tata Motors, PNB, Manappuram Fin, ITC, JSPL and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
