NEW DELHI: Shares of IT firms were in the red in Wednesday's afternoon trade.Shares of Tata Elxsi (down 2.19 per cent), Mindtree (down 1.79 per cent), Wipro (down 1.39 per cent), Just Dial (down 0.97 per cent) and Tata Consultancy (down 0.65 per cent) were among the top losers.Infosys (down 0.54 per cent), NIIT Technologies (down 0.19 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (down 0.02 per cent) too were trading with losses.While HCL Technologies (up 0.01 per cent) was the only gainer in the index.
The Nifty IT index was trading 0.64 per cent down at 16,457.3 around 11:36 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 83.40 points at 11,714.5, while the BSE Sensex was 262.49 points at 40,018.71.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 were trading in the green, while 39 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, SBI, Indiabulls Housing, JSPL, GMR Infra, Tata Power and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
