NEW DELHI: Shares of metal companies were trading with losses in Wednesday's afternoon session.Shares of Jindal Steel - Power (down 3.99 per cent), Hindalco Industries (down 3.5 per cent), Hindustan Copper (down 3.0 per cent), Hindustan Zinc (down 2.36 per cent) and MOIL (down 1.9 per cent) were among the top losers in the index.National Aluminium Company (down 1.64 per cent), NMDC (down 1.28 per cent) and Steel Authority of India (down 1.27 per cent)While Welspun Corp (up 2.02 per cent) and Coal India (up 0.77 per cent) were the only gainers.
The Nifty Metal index was trading 1.13 per cent down at 2,442.55 around 11:57 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 87.00 points at 11,710.9, while the BSE Sensex was 275.36 points at 40,005.84.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 were trading in the green, while 39 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, SBI, Indiabulls Housing, JSPL, GMR Infra, SAIL and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
