NEW DELHI: Shares of private banks were in the red in Thursday's afternoon trade.Shares of IDFC Bank (down 14.71 per cent), YES Bank (down 11.11 per cent), Axis Bank (down 10.11 per cent), RBL Bank (down 8.94 per cent) and Federal Bank (down 7.99 per cent) were among the top losers in the index.Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 6.91 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 6.86 per cent), HDFC Bank (down 6.73 per cent), IndusInd Bank (down 4.46 per cent) and City Union Bank (down 4.27 per cent) too were trading with losses.
The Nifty Private Bank index was trading 7.24 per cent down at 13,494.1 around 12:20 pm.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 679.70 points at 9,778.7, while the BSE Sensex was 2,304.78 points at 33,392.62.
All 50 stocks in the Nifty index were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, GMR Infra, SBI, IDFC First Bank, ONGC, PNB, SAIL and Motherson Sumi were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
