NEW DELHI: Vodafone Idea with over 5.65 crore shares changing hands was leading among the most traded stocks on NSE on Wednesday.Shares of YES Bank (number of shares traded: 4.49 crore), Alok Industries (number of shares traded: 2.38 crore), SBI (number of shares traded: 1.70 crore), JP Power (number of shares traded: 1.54 crore), IndusInd Bank (number of shares traded: 1.32 crore), Indiabulls Housing Fin (number of shares traded: 1.07 crore), Tata Motors (number of shares traded: 0.98 crore), PNB (number of shares traded: 0.90 crore) and ICICI Bank (number of shares traded: 0.87 crore) also featured among the most traded stocks on the NSE.
RIL (Rs 643.74 crore) was leading the pack of most active stocks in value terms.It was followed by IndusInd Bank (number of shares traded: 486.59 crore), Kotak Bank (number of shares traded: 405.69 crore), HDFC (number of shares traded: 370.00 crore), HDFC Bank (number of shares traded: 329.11 crore), SBI (number of shares traded: 324.07 crore), Bajaj Finance (number of shares traded: 286.11 crore), ICICI Bank (number of shares traded: 279.24 crore), Axis Bank (number of shares traded: 257.09 crore) and TCS (number of shares traded: 246.68 crore).
The NSE Nifty index was trading 212.7 points down at 8385.05 , while BSE Sensex was down 737.44 points at 28,731.05 around 10:28 am.
In the Nifty index, Bajaj Auto (up 3.23 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 2.88 per cent), GAIL (India) (up 2.74 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India (up 2.48 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (up 2.23 per cent) were among the top gainers.
While Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 9.51 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 6.28 per cent), Adani Ports - Special Economic Zone (down 5.03 per cent), Reliance Industries (down 4.57 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (down 3.98 per cent) were the top losers in the index.
