NEW DELHI: Over 335 stocks including AksharChem India, Asian Granito India, BEL, BEML, Bank of Baroda and Bank of India hit 52-week lows on NSE during Thursday's trade.Ceat, Centum Electronics, Cox Kings, Cummins India, Dalmia Bharat, Deccan Cements, Dena Bank, Grasim Industries, Indiabulls Real Estate, IDBI Bank, Tata Motors, Tata Power and UPL also featured among stocks that touched 52-week lows on NSE.Equity markets were under pressure amid weak global cues.Asian stocks plummeted to nine-month lows on Thursday on concerns that the approach of the US to curb Chinese investment in US technology firms may harm global economic growth, Reuters reported.
Macro indicators such as rising crude oil prices and weakening rupee too hit market sentiment.
The rupee on Thursday breached the 69 level for the first time.Oil prices jumped on Wednesday as plunging US crude stockpiles compounded supply worries in a market already uncertain about Libyan export, Reuters reported.
Moreover, investors were on the sidelines on the last of June series of future and option contracts.The NSE Nifty index was trading 40 points down at 10,632, while the BSE Sensex was down 82 points at 35,135 around 11:50 am.In the Nifty pack of stocks, 17 stocks were in the green, while 33 in the red.Tech Mahindra, Titan and GAIL were leading among the Nifty losers.
