
NEW DELHI: Dalal Street had yet another rewarding session on Tuesday, with both Sensex and Nifty scaling fresh record peaks on a closing basis.
Heavy buying in construction and engineering major LT, Infosys, HDFC and Maruti lifted the 30-share pack of BSE 106 points to a record high of 36,825.
The broader Nifty50 index added 49.55 points to settle at 11,134, with 32 components ending in the green and 18 in the red.
Among the 2,769 stocks traded during the day, 1,958 scrips advanced, 676 declined and 135 ended unchanged.
Heres a quick lowdown on the movers and shakers of Tuesdays market:- Cement stocks surgeShares of the ACC spurted nearly 13 per cent to end at Rs 1,473 apiece on BSE after the company reported a rise, albeit marginal, in the consolidated net profit at Rs 329 crore for June quarter.
Other cement companies, too, rose.
Ultratech Cement ended 3.22 per cent higher at Rs 4,136 while Ambuja Cements gained over 7.45 per cent to shut shop at Rs 212 apiece on BSE.Sticking to gains!Asian Paints posted 30.56 per cent rise in consolidated profit at Rs 558.02 crore for June quarter against Rs 427.41 crore net posted for the corresponding quarter last year.
The earnings numbers came in after market hours on Tuesday.
The stock settled 2.30 per cent higher at Rs 1,466.70 apiece on BSE.

On the other hand, 26 securities hit their fresh 52-week highs.Volume gainersSuzlon Energy, Idea Cellular, GMR Infra, Reliance Comm, Adani Enterprises, JP Associates and Adani Power were the most active stocks in terms of volume, while ACC, Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finance and Maruti Suzuki were the most active ones in terms of value.Spurt in open interestAdani Enterprises witnessed the biggest spurt in open interest at 78.32 per cent, followed by Equitas Holdings (57.88 per cent), ACC (49.97 per cent) and NIIT Tech (43.57 per cent).
Call/Put writingOn the options front, maximum Put open interest stood at 11,000, followed by 10,900, while maximum Call OI was at 11,200, followed by 11,100.
There was significant Put writing at 11,100 whereas Call unwinding was seen at all immediate strike prices while there was fresh Call writing at 11,200 and 11,250 levels.Insider trade detailsSusim Mukul, director of ILFS Investment Managers, disposed of 1,44,319 equity shares.
