NEW DELHI: Most metal mining stocks were trading in the higher terrain in afternoon trade on Monday.The BSE Metal index was trading 1.25 per cent up at 12,964 around 12:45 pm.
Jindal Steel Power (up 2.56 per cent), Nalco (up 2.13 per cent), Coal India (up 2.06 per cent) and Hindalco Industries (up 1.56 per cent) were the top gainers in the metal pack.Hindustan Zinc (up 1.36 per cent), Tata Steel (up 1.35 per cent), Vedanta (up 1.24 per cent) and JSW Steel (up 0.45 per cent) were also among the gainers.However, NMDC (down 0.61 per cent) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 0.19 per cent) were the two stocks that were down around that time.
Gains in select bank, energy, metal and auto stocks were keeping the benchmark indices in the higher territory.The BSE Sensex was up 174 points at 37,730, while the NSE Nifty50 index was up 36 points at 11,397.
In the Sensex kitty, 20 stocks were advancing, while 11 stocks were declining in trade.Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and State Bank of India were leading among Sensex scrips.
Hindustan Unilever, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Sun Pharma were among the top losers in the Sensex index.
